Heidleberg Disputation #29 (from Luther's "Philosophical Theses")

29. He who wishes to philosophize by using Aristotle without danger to his soul must first become thoroughly foolish in Christ.

Now here's an interesting one. How does one know if one has become foolish enough to read Aristotle? If one grants the central point being made, does one not also make it impossible to claim that one will know when it is possible freely to put one's feet up for the evening with a copy of the Nicomachean Ethics and, with a clear conscience, tuck in. Any thoughts?
