"Jokes are funny because they are true."

I was thinking about this today. What about joy? Don't we laugh out of joy?

Well, I think people mostly laugh at accuracy (i.e., Seinfeld, or The Office), and that is what should be taken from the quote; it offers insight, but not comprehsive insight. Similarly, I've heard it said that, within each joke, is a portion of truth, which is maybe a more precise statement. Recently, I have found myself noticing the truth that lies behind many jokes, and so the quote struck me. Also recently, I have found myself thinking unhelpfully cynical thoughts. But Frank, you are right! People laugh at innocense (i.e., children), and yes, indeed, when they feel joy too. Thank the Lord for that. Here's to more joy-filled laughter!
