Rize! (a date movie)

Have you seen 'Rize'? It's a documentary that tells a story only God could invent:

The Problem: Gang violence in the LA ghetto.

The Solution: Birthday party clown entertainers dance their way up and out en masse. At least 50 of these "gangs" have grown up in the heart of the hood. This movie tells their story. The dancing is incredible; you have never seen the human body move like this!

...And they all turn out to be Christians.

p.s., It's a wonderful depiction of Isaiah 41:18 in action ("I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water..."). God's work is more creative than the law would lead you to believe! ---JZ

I agree. It's incredible! I didn't know they were believers.

i like how John calls Rize "a date movie"...am wondering which date. 1st or second, i'm not so sure. Blind date, quite a gamble. Otherwise, most definately. Hi Simeon and Bonnie! I look forward to meeting you someday too!

YES! This film is unbelievable. You have never seen anything like it and you will not be able to trust your eyes. The Lord shows up in it big time as well.

Do you think that our new bodies (in the new heaven and new earth) will be so ripped and that we can dance like these guys? That's something to look forward to...!

Hi Carol! (I typed "Korrie" at first, oops. Duh.)

Also the movie reminds me of the Delirious song "Did you feel the mountains tremble?" in which there is the line "Dancers who dance upon injustice."

I think it makes complete sense that so many of them end up being Christian...because we see that they long to be a part of something and to be a part of the culture around them...I mean come on, there kids right...

Yet they don't want to choose drugs and gangs so they choose Hip-Hop... Clowning and Krumping.

And probably a large reason for that is God. He is the reason they want something different.

Hey John (Simeon, David)... I have been trying to get your dad to see this movie now for the last three months. Glad you are adding your voice to the chorus. Maybe we can tag team him.
